SAREL rewards excellence at Sport and Culture Prize Giving

It is always special to see so much talent being rewarded, especially since it requires dedication and hard work to be the best.

On Thursday, August 30, Sarel Cilliers High School held its annual prize giving for sports and culture.
It is always special to see so much talent being rewarded, especially since it requires dedication and hard work to be the best. In athletics, the Junior Victor Ludorum was Bandile Mdluli and the Junior Victrix Ludorum was shared by Lenzokuhle Duma and Andiswa Khumalo. Senior Victor Ludorum was Nkosinathi Qwabe and the Senior Victrix Ludorum was shared by Liezel Viljoen and Alwande Ndlela.
Book prizes for the best achievement in sport were awarded to Nontobeko Mathupa, Alwande Ndlela, Bongeka Lushaba, Liezel Viljoen, Nikita Ramdayal, Sindiswa Masinga, Sinegugu Zwane, Celestine Jackson, Sandile Masondo and Ashley Nero. Club 100 trophy for the most promising sports boy and girl went to Menzi Mabaso and Alwande Ndlela, Khuselo Zuma was awarded for true dedication, most versatile girl was Liezel Viljoen and most versatile boy was Julian Kriel. Congratulations to all winners!

Samiksha Ramballie Ranked Top 10 in Africa
Samiksha Ramballie from Sarel Cilliers High competed in the all Africa games at Ellis Park Arena on Saturday, September 1. Although she did not win a medal, she is now ranked in the top 10 in Africa in her age and mass category. Well done Samiksha.
Casual Day
Staff at Sarel Cilliers took part in the Everyday Super Heroes Casual Day event and surprised all the kids with their outfits when they turned up at school on Friday!
International SAICE bridge building competition.
The Sarel Cilliers High School bridge building team, who won the Drakensberg Region competition in March 2018, was invited to take part in the International Competition, held at St Albans College in Pretoria on August 31.
Sarel’s team members, Ernst van Rooyen, Thubelihle Luthuli and Janz Potgieter excelled in the competition and ended in 4th place overall.
Taking part and being exposed to this level of competition, was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
The team’s bridge carried a mass of 120kg, which placed them in 4th position, a mere 4 points margin between them and the 3rd place.
Well done boys, you made the school very proud!
