Ramakrishna unveil prestigious Swami Vivekananda statue in Newcastle

To commemorate this significant milestone the sub-centre erected a statue of Swami Vivekananda at its centre in Green Street.

This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa and the 150th birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita.

In light of these memorable days the Ramakrishna Newcastle Sub-Centre held a joint celebration on Sunday, July 30.

To commemorate this significant milestone the sub-centre erected a statue of Swami Vivekananda at its centre in Green Street.

Five Swamis attended this iconic day, namely, His Holiness, Srimat Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj the Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and Belur Math who unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekananda.

Newcastle Mayor, Makhosini Nkosi along with other municipal offices attended the ceremony.

Fireworks and confetti signified history in the making for the centre.

After the unveiling a formal function was held at the Nofta Service Centre, where guests enjoyed a sumptuous meal.
