Some poetry for the soul

Find inspiration in the words below

Local writer Luigi Spano sent in a couple of his poems for our readers to enjoy and contemplate…

“LIFE’S JOURNEY”

Gathered in my head are the sweet memories of that special you, who’s left their footprints etched in our hearts.

What a beautiful and loving soul taken away from us all, making us feel so small. Like a child, the days and nights seem so long, but as we grow older, one hundred years seems like yesterday gone by. As day fades into darkness, changing seasons and dreams of the past, I see the sunlight grow in the east, and the sunsets in the west.

I then look up in the north and see a falling star going to a place no one knows. I pause and think for a while that you are in a better place than I’m in. But in the mist of the moonlight I see you shine like a beacon on the bay. I see your smile peeping through the clouds above, wanting to tell me something, when suddenly the wind woke up and began to blow wildly, swaying in different directions, I then called out your name and felt a gentle breeze, almost like ice kiss me on my cheek – a sudden rush of chills running up and down my spine, leaving me with an overwhelming feeling that it was you.

I then walked in the rain where it fell swiftly and gently, revealing your crying joy of teardrops, falling on my head. I then realised that time stops for no one and l’m on my way getting to you somewhere soon.

Your spirit on earth may have fused, but your soul and memories will live on forever. I love you, my precious one, till the very end of time when we’ll meet once again into eternal life forever!!!

“A KISS IN THE WIND AND IT’S GONE”

My mother always told me, son, life is like the wind, you never now which direction it may blow, until it’s gone. Her words keep echoing in my mind and it makes it so hard not to cry. She was like a shadow in my dreams. I came into this world with nothing but a mountain of motherly love, and now that she’s gone, her memory keeps playing in my head as life moves on like a candle in the wind.
