The NG Kerk Bergsig Newcastle hosted its annual church bazaar at its church grounds in Hutten Heights last Saturday.
A motorbike club created a festival-like atmosphere with a thunderous parade, while sizzling boerewors on an open fire spoke to many hungry tummies.
Stallholders showcased their delicacies, such as homemade biscuits accompanied by homemade jams and freshly squeezed juices.
Also to be had were jaffels and sosaties and freshly made pancakes. It was a church bazaar with culinary delights aplenty.
Bazaar organisers and members of the NG Kerk Bersig, Reverend Gawie van Jaarsveld and Frikkie van der Merwe, said the church had been hosting a bazaar each year for the last 30 years.
“We call it the ‘Komma Vees’ which translates to welcoming the community to join us as a church,” explained van der Merwe.
“It was a great success. We thank the community for their support and we look forward to organising the next bazaar.”
