GALLERY: Newcastillians proclaim ‘We Do Tourism’

Guests at Saturday's market day experienced an array of cultural attractions, from music, dance, poetry and other stage items, plus stalls catering to a variety of tastes and whims.

Heritage Month celebrations were in full swing at Newcastle Mall on Saturday.

With Amajuba District in the spotlight, thanks to a nomination by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), high spirits were borne at a festive market day on the mall premises.

This preceded a live SABC 2 broadcast from Fort Amiel the day before.

Guests at Saturday’s market day experienced an array of cultural attractions, from music, dance, poetry and other stage items, plus stalls catering to a variety of tastes and whims.

It was Newcastle’s way of agreeing ‘We Do Tourism’.

The weekend also included a tour by representatives of national media houses, to numerous tourist hotspots across the Amajuba District.

A tourism stand will also be hosted at the mall’s Entrance 3 for the month.
