GALLERY: Family fun at the Boeremark

The next Boeremark will be held on February 3, 2018.

On Saturday January 13, the annual Boeremark was held at the Newcastle showgrounds.

Venders from all over Newcastle and as far as Ballito Bay, gathered in the Boeresaal for a day of family fun and shopping.

As usual, the food at the market was of the highest quality and visitors got a taste of all the delicious curries, wors-rolls and koeksusters available.

There was even an angler from Ballito Bay who sold geelbek-fish and prepared it to the preference of each individual customer.

The Boeremark also played host to some churches, like the New Life Church and Die Hervormde Kerk (Amiel Park) and also the charity organisation Solidariteit Helpende Hand.

According to Johan van Rensburg, organiser of the Boeremark, the market is there to give an opportunity to venders to show off their individual art and unique products and produce.

“We like to help people who do not necessarily have the opportunity to introduce their products to a broader public,” said van Rensburg.

The Boeremark is a conglomeration of colourful characters, unique products, creative ideas and fantastic food. It is the perfect Saturday breakaway for any Newcastillian family. The next Boeremark will be held on February 3, 2018.
