Good food, good music and great fun at the Boeremark
The Boeremark was honoured to play host to not only to the regular exhibitors, and also a few new faces.
On Saturday March 3, many Newcastle residents gathered at the Old Monte Vista Casino (Iscor Club) in Drakensberg Avenue, to spend the day with family and friends at the Boeremark (Farmers Market).
“This was an historic day for the Boeremark, as it was the first time in the history of the market that it was presented twice in one month, and even though the market was moved to a new venue a few months ago, the move did not put a damper on the popularity of the market,” explained Johan van Rensburg, Boeremark organiser.

As always, visitors were treated to fantastic food, a variety of home-made quality products, and good music, which was supplied by Willie van Aswegen.
The Boeremark was honoured to play host to not only to the regular exhibitors, and also a few new faces.
“We are overjoyed to have professional people like Unique Meats and Crafford Eiers exhibiting their goods with us here.”
Between all the fun and togetherness, the Boeremark was also sad about the absence of Peggie Steele-Botha, who had been managing the restaurant at the market each weekend.
“It is sad to do this week’s market without one of our Boeremark family members, Peggie, who underwent a serious operation. We hope she gets well soon. However, it just goes to show the quality of Newcastle’s entrepreneurs, as I started phoning around for someone to replace Peggy. In less than four hours, Newcastle’s own ‘Bunny Queen,’ Amita Rampersadh agreed to help out,” added van Rensburg.
The Boeremark was an unprecedented success. Be sure to join van Rensburg and the rest of the Boeremark family on March 17. For more information contact him on 076 937 4197.
