To add to the festivities, Aunty Barbie celebrated her 86th birthday surrounded by friends and family on the day.

Motivational talks were given to the youth by an SAPS representative and a volunteer from CANSA Newcastle. A member from SANCA also enlightened the youth on the effects of alcohol and substance abuse.

The programme consisted of a variety of sports which included volleyball, soccer, cricket, tug-o-war and other fun activities.

To conclude an entertaining day, a scrumptious meal was provided, along with a goodie hamper which was handed out. Each participant also received a gift.

“We strongly believe by nourishing our youth with the correct way of living, they are sure to take the country and community to greater heights. Let us all stand togther and encourage all youth to participate in such activities. Be the change you wish to see in the world,” concluded a temple member.
