Models strut their stuff for those in need

For the past few months, a group of young women from the Newcastle area let their lights shine, and in doing so, shed light on the lives of those who need it most – abandoned and orphaned children.

Home Meah is an organisation which makes it its mission to care for these children. Over many years, the home and its staff have lovingly taking care of many of vulnerable babies and children, but every so often reaches out to the community to help improve the lives of their little residents.
Most recently, it joined hands with local beauty queen, Roché Agenbag.
Through the hosting of the Home Meah Beauty Pageant, many local girls and young women were given the opportunity to have fun and compete, but to also raise funds for a worthy cause.

The beauty queens gathered at the NG Church Arbor Park for the final judging and the announcement of the top three in each category, and the energy in the room was electric.
It was also announced that more than R6 000 was raised for Home Meah – well done!
The top models were:
5 to 8 Years:
First – Karen Louwrens.
Second – Kay-lee.
Third – Cara Breedt.
9 to 13 Years:
First – Karla Botha.
Second – Lerika Botha.
Third – Jodine Schoombee.
14 to 18 Years:
First – Sharné Dheochand.
Second – Elzaan Kok.
Third – Siyanda Mazibuko.
19+ Years:
First – Rista van Rooyen.
Second – Thobile Kubeka.
Third – Ayanda Hadebe.
The overall winners were Karla Botha and Sharné Dheochand – congratulations to them!
