The agricultural enterprise, VKB Newcastle, hosted its third annual VKB Boere Rally at Hope Farm Sale Yards near Normandien, on June 1.
Riding in their bakkies and SUVs, teams navigated the roads of Newcastle and Normandien, to earn points in the challenging competition. VKB Newcastle Branch Manager, Heinrich Von Wielligh, said the goal of this event was to raise funds.
“The purpose if the rally is to raise funds for the Newcastle Farm Security Fund.
“They aim to set up security cameras at local farms, to curb stock theft, monitor illegal activities and stop farm attacks. Also, we wanted to create a great family day out. Farmers are here with their wives and children and local community members. We are also proud to be only VKB branch in KwaZulu-Natal. However, VKB Group has been doing business with farmers for many years, and it is only right to give back to the community,” he added. Von Wielligh thanked all the sponsors who were present and participated.
