Faster and more furious action at car show

Autobarn Parts People was the primary sponsor of the day and the Supersonic crew was seen out and about, ensuring the event progressed as smoothly as car oil.

Terence Chetty, organiser of Show Off Your Ride, said this year’s car show was going to be bigger and better, and he and his crew did not disappoint.

The show – in its 13th year running – has lived up to its name according to avid car fans who look forward to the annual event.

This year, a portion of the parking area at Blackrock Casino was transformed into any motorsport enthusiasts’ dream.

“Cars were seen lining up from as early as 6.30am,” reported Chetty.

Competitors and spectators from Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Ladysmith and surrounding areas attended the show, each bringing their own style, flair and in some cases, their killer rides.

Autobarn Parts People was the primary sponsor of the day and the Supersonic crew was seen out and about, ensuring the event progressed as smoothly as car oil.

The programme for the day included drifting, spinning, an IASCA Car Sound Competition, a mobile dyno, high powered remote control drift cars, go-karts, a Meguiars SA live car restoration demo, the Speed and Sound Magazine hot hatch challenge and the ‘low limbo’.

Food stalls ensured show-goers had enough to munch on, while a beer garden kept them hydrated.

While the action on the ground set the tone, live DJs kept the beats pumping and car show fans fuelled with adrenaline.

The event concluded with an official prize-giving ceremony, where the champions were crowned.

“To our partners, sponsors, affiliates, the competitors and our awesome fans – you guys made this event what it is. Thank you for your undying support,” concluded Chetty.
