[WATCH] Food parcels for Rosedale residents

Having to walk miles on end with containers and then pump water and then carry it all the way back home is now made a lot easier thanks to the ‘Bringing Water To Rosedale’ project.

Months back, a building team began working on the pair of 80-metre deep boreholes, following the go-ahead from an hydrologist.

The boreholes each carry 5000 litres of water and are kept full by a solar powered pump.

Gift of the Givers Estcourt representative Jaaved Khan said, “Children should not be wasting time pumping water; they should be using that time doing homework.”

He also urged the community to take care of their all-new boreholes. King Langalibalele II graced the handover and was part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This was warmly welcomed by the community with applause and ululation.

To make the day even more special, attendees received food parcels. Later that day at the Bhekuzulu Royal Residence of King Langalibalele II, the Gift of the Givers Foundation handed the elderly blankets, food and toiletry packs, and a pair of male and female shoes.

They were met with sincere gratitude, bringing one granny to tears. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Social Development Nonhlanhla Khoza also graced the event with her presence.
