Another friendly loss for the Maroon Machine

Please join the Maroon Machine this coming weekend as they play their first home game against Pongola at 15:00. Back the team!

Vryheid Rugby Club travelled to Ermelo for their second friendly away game, but came ‘short’.
Vryheid played a very dominant game territorially and were camped in the Ermelo half for the majority of game. However, the men in maroon just lacked the finishing touches to win the game, with numerous opportunities that went a-begging. Ermelo capitalised on mistakes by Vryheid and were ‘gifted’ three tries as their reliable defence fought off a seemingly endless onslaught from Vryheid.
The final score was 12-19 in Ermelo’s favour.
“We are not in the business of making excuses. Several players were not available this weekend, but there are many positives we can take away from this game. The gentlemen never looked like they lost hope or their determination. We played a very attack-oriented game, which is always exciting to watch. Travelling with club rugby is always difficult, specifically if you travel three hours. Ermelo hosted us very professionally and defended their home ground as you should. We wish them luck in their league,” said Vryheid Rugby Club chairman Richard Pace.
