Excellent times for VAC runners at scenic-marathon

The iconic 42.2km started at 6.30 am from Laerskool Oosterlijn in eMgwenya

Runners from the Vryheid Athletic Club gathered at the TRACN4 Elands Marathon in Mpumalanga on Saturday. The route takes runners through one of Mpumalanga’s most scenic areas in the Elands Valley, making this marathon more than just a fast Comrades qualifier.

The iconic 42.2km started at 6.30 am from Laerskool Oosterlijn in eMgwenya (Waterval Boven) with a route that took runners down the escarpment, through the Waterval Boven tunnel and down to the beautiful Fortis Malaga Hotel where the half marathon started. Both the marathon and half marathon finished at the Sappi Skills Training Centre in Ngodwana.

The 10km race started at the Sappi Skills Training Centre. This beautiful route never fails to produce fast times with many runners achieving personal bests and fast Comrades qualifiers.

The results are as follows and all the VAC athletes competed in the 42.2km:

Cathy de Beer – 5:59.

The club invites everyone to their social run on March 16 at Kiki’s from 05:00 until 07:00. Bring money or your bank card for a cup of coffee.
