A massive sinkhole has formed in Farquhar Road outside Klipriver High School. New tar was laid along this road recently, but now a huge hole has appeared.
The hole is right next to the speed hump at the entrance to the school, which makes it more difficult for people to see, especially at night.
The hole is also causing problems in the morning when traffic is busy, with people taking their children to school and driving to work. The hole is so big that motorists are forced to swerve out of the way to avoid damaging their vehicles or getting stuck in the hole.
There is also a large pothole in President Street, causing Ladysmith residents to question why the municipality is not doing something about the state of our roads.
What makes the President Street pothole worse is the sticks used to make it visible to the public.
A nearby resident asked whether the municipality actually has proper barricades? “Seriously, do they have to use sticks?” she complained. At the time of going to press, the municipality had failed to comment.
