Many people have heard about the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Annually, it attracts over six-million visitors from all over the world. However, this event is not exclusive to Munich. Vryheid celebrated its very own Oktoberfest on October 18.
This annual event a successful evening supported by 350 people – has become a very important fundraiser for the Michaelis School and has proven itself as popular gala-evening, promoting some of the essential values of the school: fun, diligence, team-work, honesty and a good appreciation of the community at large.
Students, parents, dressed in traditional German clothing “Dirndl and Lederhosen” started the evening with a festive opening ceremony, which entertained the guest and got them all into German Festive mode!
A lovely traditional meal was served to guests at their tables. A four –man German band kept the people on their feet right up till midnight!
This dance takes place every year around October, make a note in your diaries for 2014.
See you all next year!
