The solar lights in Murchison Street are taken down.

Taking place at Blackrock Casino last Saturday, the fund-raiser saw Aroona Rashjumar, Prelina Ramkissoon, Sam Mohilall, Neveen Singh and Patriksha Annathan take turns in the cell which was set up at the casino.

According to Renitha Sukhari-Naidoo, CANSA’s community mobiliser, the event which started at 4.30pm and ended at 10pm, was a success.

“Considering our time constraints, I think we did very well. I would just like to thank our jail birds and supporters for making the event possible,” said Mrs Sukhari-Naidoo.

The total amount raised was R8 800, which will be used to aid those fighting cancer.
