Vryheid High School – Prestigious achievements

VRYHEID High School is regarded as one of the Jewels in the DOE KZN.
We represent the nation and manage to keep a high standard of teaching, producing high pass rates and many opportunities for learners to reach their full potential.
At the Academic Prizegiving Ceremony on 17 October 2013 the following learners received Honours for academic achievement which also implies that they were first in their particular grade.
They have used their opportunities and with dedication and absolute self-discipline have managed to maintain academic excellence: Stefanie Lilje 8Va; Karl Hellberg 9Po; Lukhona Mpungose 10Vt; Quintin Verschuuren 11Lo; Martin Niebuhr 12Al
Two special awards were also handed out at this ceremony. We congratulate Cameron Boock on receiving the Ferdinand Van Niekerk Toekenning vir Uitsonderlike Menswees and the Management Trophy went to Siya Mthembu for his general positive contribution to VHS in all fields beyond the call of duty.
At the Sport and Cultural Prize-Giving Ceremony held on 16 November 2013 learners also excelled. Besides the many other certificates, scrolls, colours and honours handed out, the following learners were awarded: Hardy Keeve – Kultuurraad van Vryheid: Skild vir die Kultuurpersoonlikheid van die Jaar; Astrid Caballero-Oliver – VHS Trophy: Sportswoman of the Year (Not-school related sports); Henry Van Aardt – ABSA Bank Trophy: Sportsman of the year (Not school related sports); Ilse Niebuhr – P J Fourie Trofee: Veelsydigste Sportvrou; Martin Niebuhr – P J Fourie Trofee: Veelsydigste Sportman; Simona Le Roux – VHS Trofee: Sportvrou van die Jaar;
Juan Swanepoel – VHS Trophy: Sportsman of the Year.
