Nothing fishy about school winner
The combined prize for the competition is R3 000.
With many facing trying financial times, one business has extended a hand to local schools and pupils.
Hosting its first ever ‘School Challenge’, Peperico Fish and Chips announced Noluthando Bengu as the winner of a healthy prize for herself and her school, St Oswald’s Secondary, on Friday morning.
The school will receive R1 000 and Noluthando will get R2 000.
“This is a good boost for any person and we hope the money is used for the right reasons,” said owner of Peperico, Manuel Filipe.
The format of the competition is that a school pupil purchases a takeaway meal from the store while dressed in uniform, after which they are entered into that month’s draw.
Mr Filipe and store manager, Leon Matthee said the competition will continue indefinitely.
“This is a nice competition for the children and schools, and it’s a boost for our business,” the men admitted, stating they looked forward to crowning a winner each month.
Noluthando said she was both shocked and excited at winning the competition.
“I would like to thank Peperico for the prize and the opportunity.”
