Festive switch-on this Friday

The Kirkland family's home will be lit up on Friday evening.

The Kirkland family’s home will be all lights and action this Friday.

Tillie Kirkland said the official switch-on of her fun Christmas season lights will be at 7pm on November 22, and promised proceedings would be launched with a bang.

“People who are there will see something really spectacular,” Mrs Kirkland explained.

Vowing there would be many surprises for visitors to her magical garden, Mrs Kirkland said this would include a fairyland, shimmering colours, bubbles, music and Santa Claus himself.

“We will have Santa welcoming the children and handing out sweets at the entrance.”

Mrs Kirkland added the festive set-up this year would make for two awesome areas, and children were also encouraged to post their letters to Santa Claus via her letter box.

The Kirkland family also undertook to host underprivileged children regularly at the ‘English Tea Garden’.

“The only time our gates will be closed is when we are hosting a group of children. This will be every Tuesday and Thursday.”

December 6 is another important date on the calendar. In order to raise funds for underprivileged children, residents can lend their voices to the singing of Christmas carols, to celebrate the birth of Christ in the spirit of the festive season.

“People can bring their chairs and join us. Back 2 Front will perform live.”

Residents are welcome, as are donations.
