Courts given a new look
The Paradise squash courts have undergone a R30 000 upgrade.
After a wait of almost two years, squash players from Paradise have been given voice.
Last week, contractors finally completed the refurbishment of the squash courts at the Paradise B grounds, a development fans of the sport have applauded.
One player said this will allow squash bodies to shift their focus to promoting the sport in the area.
“We waited almost two years for this, and it was done in almost a day,” he noted.
Head of Parks and Recreation, Vish Govender said the ballpark figure for the refurbishment was R30 000, which included the repainting of both courts, lighting, a new awning, repairs to the plumbing and toilet system and the replacement of the gutters.
Security personnel stationed at the grounds can hopefully safeguard this investment.
“The community needs to know, if these facilities are vandalised again, we will not repair them,” he cautioned.
Contractors on the project refused to make any comments.
However, squash players believe the upgrades of the courts are in line with promotion of the sport and believe many will be attracted to try their hand in the fast-paced game.
