Mall promises shopper security
Additional measures will include increased patrols and guards.
This festive season, the Newcastle Mall is focused on safety for its shoppers.
Management at the centre promised additional security measures during this time, including additional guards and regular monitoring in conjunction with the SAPS and Traffic Department.
Shoppers are urged to report any incidents to the control room on 034 326 1120.
Beulah Rajkumar, marketing manager for the Newcastle Mall, said there has already been an influx of patrons, both local and out of town, and was looking forward to an increase in activity.
“We have put together an entertainment programme for the whole family, to ensure this December is an enjoyable one for all.”
Among the mall’s festive season highlights will be Santa Claus’s visit from Mondays to Saturdays, and children’s entertainment consisting of giant Snakes and Ladders, Chess, face painting and magic shows.
Adults can look forward to country music, gumboot dancers and various musical tributes.
“Tributes to Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Amy Winehouse are only part of the exciting entertainment, which will add to the festive atmosphere.”
Many stores are also offering extended shopping hours as of December 12.
These hours will be extended to 8pm from Mondays to Saturdays, with December 16 open until 6pm, as well as Sundays and December 26 open for trading until 5pm.
“On Christmas and New Year’s day, trade is optional and only selective stores will trade. Extended shopping hours will end on December 31.”
The Newcastle Mall management wishes all residents a happy and blessed Christmas season.
