KZN to get new number plates

This also means that all motorists will have to pay for new provincial plates

KwaZulu-Natal motorists can expect to have new number plates after a Provincial Cabinet decision to have all vehicle registrations changed to ‘KZN’. This will mean that town-based registrations such as ‘NKR’ and ‘NCO’ will have to be replaced.

This also means that all motorists will have to pay for new provincial plates. It has been said that the new plates will likely be made out of aluminium, rather than plastic or perspex.

The new plates will also have a provincial logo on them, in the same way that Eastern Cape number plates have an elephant depicted on them.

Local company Ladysmith Number Plates and Signs have said they have received the new aluminium plates from their suppliers and have the new machines needed to make the new plates as soon as legislation is passed.
