Girls Power Circle spreads Love for Valentine’s Day

The girls spent this day showing appreciation to hard working women and mothers, by adding some extra sunshine and smiles.

“To the special woman reading this… Yes, you. Happy Valentine’s Day! From The No-Girl-Left-Behind International St Dominic’s Girls Power Circle.”

It’s Valentine’s Day and not everyone is as fortunate to be spending it with his or her loved ones. This is why the girls power group from St. Dominic’s went to Mediclinic on February 13 to hand out roses to the female patients in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The girls spent this day showing appreciation to hard working women and mothers, by adding some extra sunshine and smiles.

This was a community service project organized by the first girls power circle in Newcastle and we can expect many more to come. “We want the girls to know the joy of service and how it feels to give,” said Haseena Patel, co-founder of the International Girl’s Power Circle.

At the moment 14 girls are part of the Newcastle circle and are planning to expand. “The circle is open to any girl at any school. You can even receive training through Skype,” said Shameema Patel, also co-founder of the International Girl’s Power Circle.

The girls really made a difference in a few lives with their selfless act of kindness. “I will be spending Valentine’s Day in the hospital and this means a lot to me,” said one of the patients, Andiswa Ndwande.

“We’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while now and now we finally can. It warms your heart to help others,” said Neliswa Ndlovu, Thandeka Sibiya and Kamolego Setlogelo who are part of the circle.

This was only the first of many more community projects. The girls wish everybody a happy and loving Valentine’s Day. Spread some sunshine and hope to others on this wonderful day.
