Pupils give it their all

MICHAELIS School held its annual Athletics Day last Friday.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and the clouds even graced us with their presence at intervals to render shade from the hot sun.

The event began with the two teams marching proudly around the field, heads held high with pride and ready to go into battle!

Our smallest and cutest members got to show the older kids what they are made of!

The Kindergarten were the first to race, some tumbling and falling, some needing the comfort of mom or dad's hand as they ran along.

Others bravely giving it their all and running into mommy's arms at the finish!

Watching these little ones is always a delight and warms the soul.

The school children were all determined to do their best too as they so badly wanted their team to win.

Spirits were high as they shouted, sang and cheered each other along!

Although our Duikers proved once again to be the winning team and took the cup, Impala was filled with true sportsmanship and spirit right till the very end, thus taking home the spirit trophy.

We would like to not only congratulate the Duikers on their win, but also every child that was brave enough to participate and do their best, you are all winners!

The Senior Victor and Victrix Ludorum were Yusuf Khan and Leah Vonkeman. Fantastic achievement, you two!

Our Junior Victor Ludorum for 2014 was a tie between Danie De Beer and Muhammad Khan and our Junior Victrix Ludorum was Kayla Olivier. Congratulations, juniors! We are very proud of all of you and we wish you the best of luck for our inter-schools athletics.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Vryheid High School for the use of their sports field.

Racing: JD van der Colff took part in the Ninja Midgets Hot Rod Race this weekend in Richards Bay.

The race took place on Saturday and JD took the trophy for first place. Congratulations JD, we are proud of you!
