Traffic police say, “We are gatvol”
“We are gatvol. They just make promises, and nothing happens,” said one official.
Newcastle Traffic Police stopped work this afternoon, and converged on the Community Service offices.
Although none of the officials wished to comment, media gathered that they had stopped work in order to corner high ranking officials within Community Services, as they had been asking for wage increases and had been promised the same.
One traffic officer said that they had been trying to arrange a meeting with management for some time, and had been unsuccessful.
“We are gatvol. They just make promises, and nothing happens,” said one official.
A convoy of 18 vehicles arrived at the Community Services offices, the traffic officers showing solidarity in their cause.
The Communications Department of the Municipality claimed to have no knowledge of the strike or the circumstances surrounding the complaints. No official comment was available at the time of publication.
