High school pupils create awareness
Encouraging fellow pupils and teachers to spray and gel their hair with bright colours, the youngsters went out of their way to raise awareness for CANSA.
Grade 12 pupils from Newcastle High School’s Life Science class stepped up to the plate last Tuesday and went out of their way to raise awareness for CANSA.
Encouraging fellow pupils and teachers to spray and gel their hair with bright colours, the youngsters did not allow the wet and chilly weather to stand in their way in promoting a healthier lifestyle.
Estella Naicker, CANSA community mobiliser, thanked Manny Govender, the principal of NHS, who had agreed to the Shavathon without hesitation.
“I would also like to thank Rakhi Ramkissoon, who in her capacity as a responsible person, organised the entire Shavathon at the school for Rachel Archery’s Life Science class.”
Ms Naicker further thanked all the pupils who supported the event.
On March 14, Mediclinic Newcastle will be a hosting a Shavathon.
“This is for everyone who had wanted to show their support at previous Shavathons but couldn’t.”
The Shavathon will take place from 9.30am until 2pm.
