The Ayoba Supa Cup is a soccer tournament aimed at improving the standard of football among developing professional players in Dundee and surrounding areas. Sifiso Dlamini, Ngcebo Phungula and Simphiwe Msane are the organisers of this first-of-a-kind event in Dundee.
Various soccer teams registered under the South African Football Association in the region will be competing for a cash prize of R10 000. All local teams are welcome to join, at a fee of R350 per team, to be part of this prestigious event, taking place over the long weekend of April 18 to 21.
The event will be played in knockout format – 80 minutes total duration and five minutes at half-time. Games ending in a draw will (go to penalties).
Organiser Sifiso Dlamini said their mission is to ‘have more teams participating in this tournament, and also practising healthier lifestyles in general’. “We would like to see the event grow to greater heights, and not just be a once-off thing,” he stated.
The Mpumelelo Stadium and the Oval will be hosting the matches, which will start at 8am and continue until 6pm.
For more information, or if you would like to assist the boys by sponsoring the event, contact organisers Sifiso Dlamini on 073 887 7118, or Ngcebo Phungula on 072 896 1228. “All donations will be highly appreciated,” said Sifiso.
