Winter sports challenge ‘makes the circle bigger’

A jamboree of family fun and sport is planned from May 9-11

The annual Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge is set to be even more challenging this year, with arm wrestling added to the menu of football, volleyball, cricket and family fun.
Now in its seventh year, the Sports Challenge – organised by Naz FC – has brought thousands of spectators to the Kallies Stadium. The event – taking place from May 9 to 11 – will include hip-hop dancers and even a Hi Roller fun ride, which are sure to add a bit of spice to the ‘fun land’ arena. Lala Govender heads up the cricket challenge. A maximum of six teams (six a side, six overs) will compete for honours. Ash Khan, besides being the main organiser, is also coordinating the soccer section. He said with the support of sponsors, big prizes are in the offing.
Eight teams have registered and no more teams can be registered. He urged team managers to ensure that no ‘unidentified players’ are used during the tournament. The fixtures and draws will take place at the Oval from 6:30pm sharp today, April 9 – managers or captains should attend, and if not they will have no say during the tournament.
