Vryheid education centre receives 500 new books to boost literacy
Amasobode Foundation receives 500 CAPS-aligned books to support learners in Shoba.
Learners at the Amasobode Foundation Education Centre in Emalayinini recently received a generous donation of a trolley library valued at R57,500, containing 500 books aligned with the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS).
This donation came from AVBOB through its Road to Literacy initiative.
The donation marks an important step in the foundation’s efforts to promote reading, support education and create more learning opportunities for children in the community.
Investing in education and young minds
Foundation founder Ayanda Kubheka said the donation was more than just providing books, as it would help learners gain knowledge and build a better future.
“This remarkable contribution represents more than a collection of books.
“It is an investment in knowledge, a commitment to the future of young people and a reminder of what can be achieved when organisations work together to support education.
“Reading is one of the most important foundations of learning.
“It develops language skills, improves understanding, encourages creativity and gives learners the knowledge they need to succeed both in school and beyond.’’
Promoting a culture of reading
He added that the donation would benefit not only learners at the education centre but also the wider Emalayinini community and surrounding areas of Vryheid.
“A community that reads is a community that grows.
“When children are encouraged to read from an early age, they discover new ideas, explore different possibilities and develop the confidence to pursue their dreams.”
Strengthening learning opportunities
The foundation expressed its gratitude to AVBOB for supporting its work through the Road to Literacy initiative. The books will strengthen the centre’s learning resources and give learners more opportunities to develop their reading skills, broaden their knowledge and build a love for reading.
The foundation hopes to make full use of the donation to inspire young readers and help create a community where education is valued and learning opportunities are accessible to all.
