SAPS divers retrieve two bodies
The bodies were retrieved from the Ncandu and Buffalo RIvers respectively.
SAPS are on the hunt for information relating to two drownings in the Newcastle area this month.
Late on Monday afternoon, police divers were called in to retrieve the corpse of a man, estimated to be in his fifties, who appeared to have drowned in the Ncandu River over the long weekend.
The body bore no suspicious injuries, officials said.
At the time of the drowning, police said the man was wearing a khaki-coloured pair of trousers, a light yellow shirt and sneakers.
Earlier the same day, trained divers were summoned yet again.
They were tasked with the retrieval of a decomposing corpse believed to have been in the water for five days, discovered in the Buffalo River near the outlying areas of Newcastle.
The deceased was wearing a green T-shirt, blue jeans and is estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old.
