Mkhize finally off the hook

Former Umzinyathi Deputy Mayor and the gang are out on bail

All charges faced by former Umzinyathi Deputy Mayor FS Mkhize and his co-accused were dropped by the Pietermaritzburg High Court on April 16.
Mkhize was charged along with NFP Councillors, M Ntuli and Mchunu, and one of Mr Mkhize’s bodyguards, M Mgwaba.
They were allegedly facing charges of the murder of Nquthu Councillor IT Nhlebela.
The fifth suspect, NFP Councillor Nonsindiso Dlamini, has turned state witness. However, they are also suspects in the murder of another NFP Councillor from Msinga, Bongani Shelembe. Mr Shelembe was shot dead along with Zama Zuma, who was travelling with him at the time of the incident.
Another passenger was also shot, but survived the injuries.
The suspects are facing charges of two counts of murder, one of attempted murder and another of conspiracy to commit murder. All the accused are out on bail.
