Al-Islamia Islamic school recently held its annual Madressah inter-house athletics day at the Acaciavale Primary School sports ground.
Pupils from Grade 1 up to senior level attended this sporting event.
Physical education and sporting activities were the highlights of the programme.
The purpose of the event is to take students into the outdoors for healthy activities that are lacking in children’s lives these days.
The event was organised keeping in mind the physical fitness and entertainment of the children.
The students participated in various track and field events, fun games and mainstream sport such as soccer, with much zeal and zest. There was heated competition in the relay and hurdle races as the students hurtled down the track towards the finish line.
The soccer and cricket clinic seemed to be the main attraction.
The staff and youth committee cheered and applauded the efforts of the students. Youth Committee chairman Ridwaan Bhamjee, along with Nazarana Bhamjee, would like to thank the Acaciavale Primary School principal and governing body for allowing them to use the grounds. They would also like to thank Sharaj Ambulance Services for their support.
