Viva for Rakesh and his Vivo

"We are so happy! Now everyone wants to buy our old car"

If you have ever thought that entering one of those national competitions is a waste of time, think again. Rakesh Ramkishoon entered the Spar ‘Win a Vivo’ competition, and that’s exactly what he won: a sparkling red Polo Vivo, delivered to him at Glencoe Spar on Friday.
Rakesh, who works at Docrat’s Hardware, said he was totally overwhelmed when Glencoe Spar contacted him to tell him he was the winner.

“I shopped last Sunday at Glencoe Spar and spent about R135. I dropped the entry into the box, but did not think much about it as it is a national competition with 100 Vivos to be won over about a five-week period throughout the country,” he told the Courier.
However, on Sunday his name was drawn at Glencoe Spar, which meant he immediately won back what he had spent. Then on Monday the names of 25 Spar stores throughout South Africa (there are over 850) were drawn.

Glencoe Spar’s name was one of the stores drawn, and that meant their Sunday winner, Rakesh, was the winner of the Polo.
Andrew and Louis of Glencoe Spar presented the keys to Rakesh and his family with Tertius Bezuidenhout, Retail Operational Manager for Spar in the area, supervising.
“We are so happy! Now everyone wants to buy our old car,” smiled Rakesh’s wife, Aynishia.
