House being demolished in Lyell Street

The reason he wants the house demolished is evidently because criminal activity is rife in the area and the rent is overdue

Mr Moola, the owner of a house in Lyell Street, called Public Safety for protection while demolishing the house this morning (Tuesday).

Public Safety and the K9 Unit deployed after being requested by the owner.

Speaking to the Ladysmith Gazette, Mr Moola said that people have not been paying rent at the premises. He has been renting out the house to more than 15 people, including children. The reason he wants the house demolished is evidently because criminal activity is rife in the area and the rent is overdue.

Mr Moola claims he has given the renters sufficient notice to pay, but in vain. Not only that, but the living conditions are evidently terrible.

Public Safety officers are in Lyell Street at the moment to ensure that the situation doesn’t turn ugly.
