The Newcastle Lions Club will host its Golf 4 Good Fundraiser Golf Day at Newcastle Golf Club. Entry is R300 per player and includes lunch. Proceeds from the day will go towards a variety of charitable causes, including childhood cancer initiatives and feeding schemes. The shotgun start is at 10:00, so get there early to register.

Dundee Tourism presents Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge

September 27:

Dundee Tourism will host the 2026 Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge on September 27. The race will start and end at Talana Museum in Dundee. The race will be an all-tar road race and will see cyclists conquer three mountain passes, namely Glencoe Pass, Mpathi Pass and Endumeni Pass. The categories are as follows: men and women, junior (17-19), open (19-39), veteran (40-49), masters (50-59) and grand masters (59 and over). Distance and entrance fees: the 100km race starts at 07:00; entrance is R300 per cyclist. The 45km race will start at 07:15; entrance is R100 per cyclist. HPS Mandir to host Gita Week

August 28 to September 3:

The HPS Mandir will host Gita Week at the HPS Temple from 18:00 daily. The programme will include daily satsangs, recitals and discourses. Special sessions will be held on August 29 and 30 from 16:00. The programme will be officiated by Pundit Ameer Maharaj of the Shree Sanathan Dharma Sabha of South Africa. All are welcome to attend. ISKCON Newcastle to host festival celebrations

September 4 to 19:

ISKCON Newcastle will host a series of festival celebrations in September. Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, from 18:30, including a special midnight arati. Srila Prabhupada’s Vyasa Puja will take place on Saturday, September 5, from 11:30, followed by Radhastami on Saturday, September 19, from 14:00. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Newcastle Community Church will host a Golf Day at Newcastle Golf Club. Entry is R290 per player and includes a halfway light lunch. The day will follow an individual points system, with a 10:00 shotgun start, and prizes will be awarded to the top 10 players. Sponsored holes as follows: Businesses can support the event by sponsoring holes 1, 5, 6 or 18. Sponsorship costs R4 000, which includes four players, business advertising and a light lunch, while sponsorship for the other holes is R2 000, also including four players, business advertising and a light lunch. Newcastle Diwali Committee calls for vendors and stallholders

October 24:

The Newcastle Diwali Committee will host its Diwali event at the Nofta Service Centre, on Saturday, October 24. Food, arts and crafts, fashion and beverage vendors are invited to apply, with food stalls strictly vegetarian. Stall space is available at 3m x 3m for R450 or a double stall measuring 3m x 6m for R900. Vendors and stallholders are required to provide their own tables, extension cables and safety equipment.
