More than two months after the national general elections, the weather-beaten posters remain.
The town’s by-laws state that election posters must be removed within 14 days after the election, but this has obviously not happened in some parts of Umtshezi.
It also warns that if failing to do so, the guilty parties may be charged R20 per poster.
This was documented in the Estcourt News dated April 4 where Umtshezi Municipal Manager Nonhlanhla Njoko highlighted the do’s and don’ts of elections posters.
However, it is not clear if the municipality has implemented this decision as no response was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
