Failing health claims councillor

The Newcastle Advertiser and its sister papers would like to take this opportunity to offer their sincere condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Cllr Ntombela.

Friends and family of the late Bonginkosi Ntombela bid him farewell during a memorial service held in conjunction with the Newcastle Municipality last week Thursday.

Cllr Ntombela, a former EXCO member and Portfolio Councillor of Corporate Services, passed away on July 14. He was described as one of the best portfolio councillors this town ever had.

Political parties in the district offered their condolences to the family of Cllr Ntombela.

“Cllr Ntombela will be remembered as a kind-hearted person, who worked with integrity for the benefit of the community. A small man in stature, but his heart was huge,” said DA Councillor, Bebsie Cronje.

Others who paid their respects and attended the service, included Newcastle Deputy Mayor, Rachel Ndluli, Portfolio Councillor of Community Services Noma Kunene and Portfolio Councillor of Human Settlements, Matthew Shunmugam.

“It is going to be a real hard task to find a replacement for the huge boots left behind by Cllr Ntombela,” said Cllr Shunmugam.

Cllr Ntombela’s positive contribution to Newcastle Municipality is a testament to the five years he gave in service to the town.

The Newcastle Advertiser and its sister papers would like to take this opportunity to offer their sincere condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Cllr Ntombela.
