A cul de sac turns cryptic when a paramedic or a Postnet delivery man tries to decipher the faint letters of a ‘so-called’ street name.

A visit to Ncandu Park will feel like a maze of faded white letters concealed by overgrown grass. Whether you have been living in Newcastle for a month or a lifetime, residents know missing streets names are a large-scale issue.

Missing street names have become a pressing matter throughout Newcastle. An unreadable, bent out of whack sign serves no purpose to visitors or residents alike. Vandalism, ‘wear and tear’ or improper upkeep are of the reasons many use loosely.

Decoding directions is a task many know too well. Question is how long will it be before men and women armed with white paint take matters into their own hands.
