As reported last week, there was another accident at the intersection of High and Boeren streets on Saturday, August 16. The picture shows one of the injured receiving attention from a medic. It was stated in the article that a petition, to turn this intersection into a four-way stop, had been handed to the municipality. In fact the petition has not been handed over to the municipality. There is such a petition, and it has been signed by 70 High St/Boeren St residents, but when the organisers of the petition tried to hand it to the municipal traffic department, they were told to “come back in September”. The municipal authorities had failed to comment on this matter at the time of the Vryheid Herald going to press this week.
