Man held at knife-point during Plaza robbery
He was grabbed from behind and a knife was placed at his throat
Salimon Adado was held at knife-point and then beaten to the ground during a robbery at a local shopping centre. The 22-year-old was grabbed from behind by a man and a knife placed at his throat.
The robber, plus two accomplices, threw him to the ground, pinning him down. His pockets were rifled through and his belongings taken. This included his cell-phone, money and passport. He was beaten and sustained slight injuries to his chest and legs as he attempted to fight off his attackers. The attack took place at the Plaza shopping centre yesterday (Monday).
The muggers fled on foot, and a still-dazed Salimon scrambled to his feet and gave chase. Police officers who were in the Plaza at the time saw the chase and joined in. One of the suspects was caught, while the other two managed to eluded police.
Sharaj Ambulance Services responded to the scene, treated Salimon for his injuries and took him to hospital. He has since been discharged from the Provincial Hospital, where he was treated for shock and minor injuries.
Police expect to make more arrests soon.
