Man murdered in broad daylight (Warning: Graphic content)

A man has been fatally stabbed during an altercation in Allen Street. The Pakistani national was stabbed once in the chest by a group of four men.

Newcastle – A 24-year-old Pakistani national was stabbed and killed this morning on Allen Street.

The victim was allegedly grabbed by three men, while a fourth stabbed him once in the chest outside a shop.

The victim managed to walk nearly 50 metres before collapsing inside another shop on Allen Street where it is believed he was employed.

ER24 spokesperson Jan-Henk van Vuuren said the man was already dead when he arrived on scene.

“While we were driving through town, we noticed a commotion. At first we thought it was a shoplifting incident, but on closer inspection we discovered the victim. Sadly, he was deceased when we arrived,” he said.

Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Luthuli confirmed the arrest of one suspect by members of the K9 Unit, while a further three suspects are still at large. It is believed they fled in a blue sedan.

According to other shop owners close by, the argument between the two groups has been ongoing for some time. A cricket match on Sunday is believed to have been the spark that set off vicious arguments.

It is believed the same group of men were involved in a fight on Allen Street yesterday afternoon.
