Pupils do their part for recycling

Cathulani Junior Primary School, Madadeni, was rewarded for its efforts during the Coo-ee Collect-A-Cap campaign last Thursday morning.

Focusing on the well being of communities in South Africa and the environment, the campaign was run from January 16 to June 21, where pupils collected Coo-ee cool drink caps as part of a recycling awareness campaign.

On Thursday, Coo-ee staff visited the school and handed out water bottles, lunch bags, stationery sets and slim bags to children who participated in the campaign.

“If children brought 23 caps, they got a slim bag, children who brought 50 caps got a stationery set, children who brought 75 caps got a water bottle and for 100 caps children received a lunch bag,” said Zachious Mdlalose, Coo-ee brand activator, who said Cathulani School’s pupils did exceptionally well.

“Along with the prizes the children are getting, the school will also be getting a bench for collecting 10 000 caps,” said Mr Mdlalose.

Adding to the occasion, the delighted pupils were also visited by the Coo-ee man whose antics brought smiles to their faces.
