During the third term, in between all the athletics practices and school play rehearsals, the learners found time to participate in the Ichthus orators’ competition as well the KZNCSSA chess tournament in Hillcrest.
KZNCSSA chess
Congratulations to Quintin Kriel, who represented Ichthus at the KZNCSSA chess tournament. Quintin, being an U/12 player, took part in the U/13 section and played very well! Ichthus encourages him to keep up his good performance to enable him to reach the SACSSA tournament in 2015.
Ichthus English Orators Competition
Many English Home Language learners, as well as English First Additional Language learners, took up the courage to stand in front of the whole school to debate different topics. Congratulations to the following learners, who took first place indifferent grades: Grade 4 winner Robert Abrahamse; Grade 5 winner Anél de Goede; Grade 7 winner: Thoko Ngubane.
The school encourages all the learners to develop their orator skills further in 2015.
Cowboy krieket-toernooi
Ichthus bedank die personeel van Dundee Juniorskool wat die toernooi georganiseer het, wat op Oktober 17 en 18 in Dundee en Glencoe plaasgevind het. Twaalf opgewonde seuns, Mnr Arrie Gunther (afrigter), Mnr Toby Page (afrigter) en Mev Yolandi van Zyl (Departementshoof: Sport) het die span vergesel. Die seuns het pragtig gespeel en het vierde in die reeks geëindig. Ichthus wens Jan-Frederik van Zyl geluk, wat drie keer as ‘Man of the Match’ aangewys is. Ichthus bedank ook ons afrigters en personeel wat met toewyding aan elke speler in die span aandag gee.
