The School Governing Body (SGB) and parents of Monument Primary School did their part for the community on Thursday when they were involved in a pit-stop for cyclists taking part in the Berg & Bush three-day mountain bike race.
The race started in the Oliviershoek Pass area and finished in the Winterton area.
On the third and final day of the event, over 600 tired participants cycled into the second and final water table known as ‘The Circus’, which was the theme of the stop. All those at the water table were dressed accordingly and the music playing created an unbelievable vibe.
When the cyclists entered the ‘tent’, they were greeted by a huge cheer which brought smiles to their faces after a gruelling 50km pedal.
All the cyclists were treated to Cokes and a wide spread of food, from steak to bananas and even pancakes. Sore muscles were taken care of, bicycle chains were oiled, and there was even some time for a chat and rest before taking on the last 10km to the finish. ‘Monument Circus’ was voted the best water table during the event, winning R2000.
