Final ‘goodbyes’ at Amakhemfundo Primary
They have finally decided to step down, put their chalk and dusters aside and head home for a long rest.

It has been a journey of many years in the field of teaching and they finally decided to step down, put their chalk and dusters aside and head home for a long rest.
NO Shezi, MKS Khanyile, as well as NJ Shabalala, said their last goodbyes to colleagues and learners at their farewell on December 09, 2014, at Amakh’emfundo Primary. Their families, colleagues, friends, learners and the community at large filled the school hall to witness the sad departure of the three ladies.
Even though no tears were shed it was a sad goodbye as the school principal, SJ Ngobese indicated that two of the teachers (Mrs Shabalala and Mrs Khanyile) leave behind a huge void in the intermediate phase as they taught one of the most important subjects – mathematics. To rub more salt into the wound, Mrs Khanyile and Mrs Shezi were part of the management team and the principal hopes that whoever fills their shoes will do a tremendous job.
He thanked the ladies for the amazing and outstanding job they have done, all the effort they have contributed to the school, making sure that students receive the best they could in their subjects, especially Maths. Word of advice to the trio was that they should never allow themselves to be ‘couch potatoes’ but must get up and do other things that will keep them active all the time. They were further asked not to forget where they come from, and their school, and were asked to be available for the school if need be since there are no replacements as yet to fill their positions.
The principal, Mrs Ngobese honoured them with certificates of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the school. While Mrs Shabalala and Mrs Shezi said their very last goodbye on the day, Mrs Khanyile will officially leave by next year February.
