Mondlo women unite in prayer over community challenges

Mondlo women from different denominations united in prayer for healing, protection, jobs and stronger families.

The Mondlo Methodist Women Manyano started on the first Thursday of August with prayer, inviting women from different denominations to come together and pray for the challenges facing the community.

Women unite in prayer for the community

The ecumenical prayer focused on issues including sickness, substance abuse, unemployment, crime, child-headed households and marriages.

Mrs Erica Zulu opened the gathering by reading a Bible scripture from 1 Samuel 1:10, which speaks about Hannah praying to God while deeply distressed.

Prayers for healing and those facing struggles

The first prayer was led by Mrs Cynthia Buthelezi, who prayed for people suffering physically, emotionally and socially.

She called on God, the giver of life, to reach out to those facing different struggles and bring them comfort and healing.

Miss Gugu Sithole from the BIC Church led the second prayer, focusing on people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.

She prayed for divine intervention to break the chains of addiction and asked God to give those affected the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help.

Unemployment remains a concern

Unemployment was also placed before God, with Miss Thabi Ngcobo from the Apostolic Faith Mission praying for people searching for jobs.

She prayed for those who continue to face closed doors and losing hope, asking God to open opportunities and provide for families waiting for employment.

Women pray for protection from crime

Crime and house burglaries were another major concern raised during the prayer service.

Local preacher Mrs Elder Zulu prayed for protection, particularly for elderly people who are often targeted by criminals.

She called on God to protect residents and help those involved in crime turn away from criminal activities.

Prayers for vulnerable children

The women also remembered children living in child-headed households as Miss Fikile Hadebe prayed for these children.

She asked God to protect them from exploitation and abuse and to keep them safe in their homes.

Stronger prayers for marriages

Bible Woman Aslita Zwane prayed for marriages, describing them as an important foundation of families.

She prayed for stronger relationships between partners and asked God to protect marriages from outside pressures that could lead to separation and divorce.

Women close gathering in prayer

The gathering ended with the women joining together in prayer, with the group describing the atmosphere as one where they could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.
