Local lasses enjoy record breaking game

Vibha and Kashmiri were caught on camera celebrating one of AB's historic sixes.

A packed Wanderers stadium, many clad in pink, witnessed a record-breaking game as the Proteas and AB de Villiers ran riot on Sunday.

Two Dannhauser girls, Vibha Neerahoo and Kashmiri Neerahoo-Maharaj were witness to the historical game and were even part of the action when TV cameras displayed their celebrations live.

The sisters were among the many supporters wearing pink in aid of the Pink Day and witnessed AB de Villiers’s historic 31 ball 100.

De Villiers blasted a record-equalling 16 sixes and nine fours on his way to 149, while scoring the fastest century in ODI cricket.

He also scored the fastest ODI 50, reaching it off 16 balls.

The Proteas amassed 439, their highest score in ODI cricket but fell short of the world record of 443, held by Sri Lanka.

“It was amazing to see the spirit for the breast cancer cause and the vibe of all in the stadium as one was amazing. We were beaming with extreme pride to be South African,” exclaimed Kashmiri.
