Vryheid High School – Opportunities to grow

DIE week het begin met ‘n ‘Ken-Mekaar’ bring en braai waar die Gr 8 en nuwe leerlinge se ouers die personeel en lede van die beheerraad kon ontmoet.

Ten spyte van die ongure weer was dit ‘n gesellige geleentheid en was die ouers meer gerus oor hul kinders se toekoms hier na hul ontmoeting van die ‘VHS-family’.

On Wednesday, January 28, we hosted our annual ‘Interhouse Gala’. This event is now held after school, so it was good to see so many learners attend whether they were swimming or just being enthusiastic supporters.

Results: This year’s Junior Victrix Ludorum was awarded to K Hellberg and Junior Victor Ludorum to A Niebuhr, while Senior Victrix Ludorum was shared between A Kohlmeyer and K Verschuuren, Senior Victor Ludorum was also shared between D Wood and T von Benecke.

We would like to say a special word of thanks to Mr Friend from Vryheid Meat Masters for the use of the gazebos, Protea Tyres for the tubes and Mrs Feather and her team for organising such a successful event.

The traditional ‘Fruit Festival’ and first ‘Sokkie’ were held on Thursday, January 29. The Grade 8 pupils were welcomed into the VHS family once more through their participation in both events. The ‘Fruit Festival’ was simply good, ‘dirty’ fun and greatly enjoyed. The Sokkie was also a pleasure for most and learners were commended on their exemplary behaviour despite the excitement!

Hopefully the photo this week of Quinton Verschuuren will serve as inspiration to all VHS learners! Strive to do well academically, as this will greatly determine your future! Well done, Quinton, and we wish you the best for your future!
