Water woes leave residents desperate

Residents queue for water.

Desperate, dissatisfied and angry residents queude up at the Dundee Boulevard this morning in search of water.

Their search took them to Pick ‘n Pay and Revitalife where bottled Osmosis-processed  water is sold at a cost of R1 per litre.

This comes after the continuous water cuts and water shortages in and around Endumeni.

However, the water cuts, which many are referring to as water shedding, are putting a strain on the Reverse Osmosis Machine and as a result customers are advised to wait for the machine to fill completely before purchasing water from it.

According to  Revitalife Business owner, Nick Thorne, “The machine takes approximately half an hour to fill, but owing to the high demand it can take up to three hours, because it is emptied before reaching full capacity.”

He also explained how though the water cuts have led to an influx of customers, it is also important to think about the people, and keep prices accessible.

Revitalife has also opted for an alternative source of water for when the Reverse Osmosis Machine fills up, that being Cascade water. This water which is fresh from a fountain is sold at R 12 per 5Liter.
